I am not a native of Lubbock, nor even of Texas. I was born and raised in Greenfield, Indiana, spent a couple of years living in Glasgow, Scotland, and then landed in Lubbock where I've been ever since. Have a look!

Have a seat

I think these concrete pillars are technically designed to keep out-of-control cars from crashing into the building. However, they also strike me as a nice place to sit and watch life go by for a few minutes. Or to just eat lunch.

Exactly. That's what they're for. But I wonder how effective really. And yeah, I don't think anyone will mind if you sat there to people watch or munch on something

I think they are too close to the building to really stop much.

They don't look very comfortable though and concrete can feel cold in winter.
