I am not a native of Lubbock, nor even of Texas. I was born and raised in Greenfield, Indiana, spent a couple of years living in Glasgow, Scotland, and then landed in Lubbock where I've been ever since. Have a look!

Dandelions

My grandfather spends a lot of time, money and effort getting these things out of his yard. I, however, am not opposed to them. That could be because I do not own a yard.

We used to eat them for or like spinnach when I was a child. They are delicious leaves if you eat them before they bloom. After that the leaves are bitter. Fix them like you would fix spinnach for a salad.

Well, I have never eaten them in a salad, but we did fry the flowers and eat them as part of a history unit one year in primary school.

I would be afraid to try them around here, because so many people use pesticides and other nasty chemicals in their yards-- but my parents do not, so the next time I'm home I'll try a dandelion salad!

Wow, Amy, totally didn't expect to see you on here! :) I'm going to have to get to work on these requests, I've been run off my feet the past few weeks and I haven't spent much time with my camera. Which coffee shop was it? Daybreak?

I also use to have lunch where Aromas is now (Me and a girlfriend, she would have a mocha and I would have a sweet iced coffee...hence my health problems)
